Course Overview

Hazardous Substances are flammable and combustible liquids and gases. The course highlights the classification of such substances, contents of Material Safety Data Sheets, HAZCHEM code practices and rules to be observed for safe handling. General guidelines for storing such substances in bulk quantities, drums or containers are presented.

Delegates will enhance the knowledge on Hazardous Substances (Crude Oil and Petroleum Products) Storage Definitions, Design of Storage Tanks, Design Considerations of Tanks and Manifolds, Tanks Heaters and Mixers, Tank Operations, Loading and Unloading Operations, and Handling of Slops.

The programme also gives general guidelines, precautions, design criteria’s and operations for transporting such substances by road or rail.

Team Leaders, Project Managers, Refinery Managers, Plant Managers, Section Heads, Plant Supervisors, Process Engineers, technical staff and contractor personnel involved in hazardous substances terminal operations, storages, safety precautions, and transportation.
Managers and specialists who lead or facilitate in the designing, selecting, specifying, operating, installing, repairing of safe handling, storage guidelines and transportations of hazardous substance.
Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Engineers who are regularly involved in rules for safe handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous substances.

Training Methodology

Safe Handling, Storage, and Transportation of Crude Oil and Petroleum Products training course will be conducted in a facilitative style with a combination of lecture and practical exercises in the use of techniques, case studies and a high level of lively debate and sharing of ideas. Delegates will be encouraged to introduce problems of their own for discussion and analysis. Copies of all lecture materials, case studies and workbooks will be provided.

Pre & Post course assessments will be used to measure the effectiveness of this training.
