COURSE OVERVIEW

PVT analysis and EOS fluid characterization are essential tools for reservoir engineers and production professionals to understand reservoir fluid behavior, optimize production strategies, and maximize hydrocarbon recovery from oil and gas reservoirs.

This PVT & EOS Fluid Characterization course will help the participants prepare the most accurate possible set of values of fluid properties for use in other engineering calculations. You will understand the advantages of applying laboratory data and correlations. Extensive exercises are used to illustrate the principles and to test the consistency of measured data. Accordingly, participants are encouraged to bring their own PVT laboratory data to deconstruct in class. Delegates will understand Equations of State calculations with the help of tuning exercises. This course will cover PVT data validation, EOS phase modeling, and preparation of PVT input data for reservoir simulation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Up on completion of the PVT & EOS Fluid Characterization training, the participants will be able to:

  • Identify the type of fluid in a particular reservoir and predict how that fluid will behave during production
  • Read and QC PVT Reports
  • Use laboratory data to determine values of fluid properties for use in engineering calculations, including Equation of State
  • Use correlations to determine values of fluid properties in the absence of laboratory data
  • Select the best available fluid property correlations for oils, gases, and oilfield waters
  • Shape PVT data to get the best results out of analytical and numerical software
  • EOS modeling, tuning, and exporting for different software.
