COURSE OVERVIEW

History matching involves manually adjusting reservoir model parameters until the model’s predicted production behavior matches the actual historical production data. This process can be time-consuming, subjective, and prone to human error. While AHM is a valuable tool, it requires expertise in reservoir simulation and optimization techniques. INTERSECT offers additional advanced features that further enhance reservoir management optimization, reduce uncertainty, improve decision-making, and maximize the economic recovery of hydrocarbon resources.

This Assisted History Matching and INTERSECT Advanced Features course is designed to cover state-of-the-art techniques/workflows for history-matching geologic and reservoir models. The course will discuss manual and assisted history-matching methods. This course will focus on INTERSECT’s advanced features and show you how to construct and run simulation models using INTERSECT. The training solves various reservoir simulation problems, and you become acquainted with the features of INTERSECT. The course takes you through entire field development workflows and demonstrates the flexibilities and benefits of field management with INTERSECT.

This seminar is designed for a wide range of professionals. Still, it will significantly benefit reservoir simulation engineers, asset engineers, and the oil and gas industry professionals seeking to optimize their reserves evaluation workflow and make confident investment decisions.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

This training utilizes various proven adult learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension, and retention of the information presented. The program will be interactive and practical. There will be work in groups and pairs as well as individual exercises. Everyone will get an opportunity to discuss their Reservoir simulation skills to increase efficiencies and uptime at their data preparation and quality check and consequently be ready for PETREL/INTERSECT simulation data preparation. Module 1 - INTRESCT Overview / PETREL PROJECT / DATA Preparation

    • Introducing the Petrel project that you will use throughout the course.
    • Data Preparation and QC.
      • PVT Data (Reservoir fluid types and behavior)
      • Relative permeability data
      • Capillary pressure data

    • Black oil and compositional fluid models.

Module 2 - Initialization options / Swi distributions / History-match / reservoir management

    • Discussing initialization options
    • The concepts behind the accurate definition of an initial reservoir state.
    • Discussing techniques to match initial water saturation distributions provided by the petrophysicist and geomodeler.
    • History matching your simulation model and use it for reservoir management purposes.
    • Set up, run, and analyze the results for single-well, pattern, and full-field models

Module 3 - Field Management / Production Optimisation
